StART on The Street 2019.
In 2019, I applied and got accepted into vending at an art festival called StART on the Street. I had applied about a month after my RAW Artist event. The options were a 6x6ft or a 10x10ft space to show off your work. For my second event ever, I decided on a 6x6 space. When planning regarding tables, grids, and material placement, it was quite challenging going since other artists and I were shoulder to shoulder to each have out own opportunities to shine. I had brought a 5ft table, two 2x6ft grids, a clothing rack, and all my illustrations ranging from prints, wooden paintings and custom textiles.
Today at StART, I will be presenting my works that I had curated/produced at the end of my sophomore year and all throughout Summer 2019.
Our day started around 7am, getting up in the mornings, having a checklist to make sure all is packed up and arriving to our specific meetup location. We started unpacking/setting up around 8-8:30am and ended our setup a little past 10:30am, having 30 minutes before the vent officially begun.
Before the show started, good friends of mine along with family had already showed up to look/purchase some of my works. Great start to my day, I was excited. Our most busy time that day had to be around 12-4pm. I had met so many wonderful individuals and other artists. Gathering business cards and getting to know one another. Even a lot of old/new friends showing up.
Our day had ended around 6pm, then had to retrieve and pack up my car again to head home. Still a college student, I didn’t have time to relax,I unpacked everything from the show and then packed up my moms car to head back to my dorm in Boston for my classes Monday morning. I was so exhausted but living for the post art show glow.
I am so thankful for the experience and everyone who has showed uo to help me get where I am now. I hope to do this event once again in 2020 and hopefully upgrade to a 10x10ft space for my next show, along with finding more shows to participate in all throughout the New England area.
