The Looff Arts Festival 2022.
The Looff’s 8th Annual Arts Festival | August 13th | Providence.
The Looff’s Art Festival, my first show outside of Massachusetts was a success!
My main goal of this festival was to see improvement in regards to my setup after personal reflection of Salem Arts Festival back in June.
For Looff, I decided to apply a couple weeks after resting from The Salem Arts Festival. Submitting a $75 booth fee, I was accepted two weeks after! With follow-up emails regarding setup and time slots as the date grew closer.
Before applying, I was on the fence after Salem, regarding how much time I had in-between to create original pieces, purchasing new equipment, and overall time management.
In the midst of it all, I had also received acceptance to participate in StART on the Street 2022. This would be my second year participating, StART 2019 being my first.
Some things that are important to take into consideration that are a first for me, is several events lined up at once. Its important to note that each event may not be like the last.
Since this was my first time participating for Looff, I had no idea what type of demographic they would have compared to other shows, and if there was a specific niche of artists present. For Salem Arts, there was a turnout of hundreds of people, which lead to more connections, and my art style meshed well with the crowd.
With no idea what to expect, and hoping for the best, I decided to play it safe. I decided to prioritize this event as being an arrangement of
8x10 prints
9x12 prints
stickers
limited keychains
and original illustrations.

As the day arrived, our time slot was 9:30am spot 8. We arrived 15 minutes late due to traffic, but luckily for us, our spot was right up front! This made it so much easier to unpack and park my car elsewhere until the festivities came to a close.
During this time, we had a two hour window to unpack, set up, write out sales, and make sure our other packaging/merchandise was invisible to customers. My prints were laid out on the table for viewing, the 8x10 versions in elevated folders, keychains on table grids (these were SO much better than the 2x6ft grids I had in the past), stickers in frames to prevent being blown away by gusts of wind, and original illustrations in 14x18 photo frames.
During setup, we met the woman coordinating the entire event, who handed out sale permits since you need a permit in order to sell in RI. She was a total sweetheart and informed me of her Art of Darkness gallery that is resuming after a 2 year hiatus due to covid. I will also be applying to this galley adding my two original illustrations and original senior thesis painting.
At Looff, I had made even more connections than my previous show and was able to meet more artists! For my first year, I felt so involved and included! Also, the food at the food trucks was amazing quality!
For what did well, people loved the 9x12 prints and the 4 newest additions.
Another accomplishment was none of my materials or setup was blown away by the wind, especially being near a waterfront. Last time, it was a common occurrence. Good to see mistakes recognized, learned and applied for better future references! This has to be my favorite setup to date, and for our first time at this festival, we had an excellent time!
Thank you to everyone that came by to view my work, talk about art/life, made some purchases and new connections that I am excited to see you all in the future!
Below, from my Instagram art account, @SarahDualityArt is a reel recap of the show altogether! Cant wait to do more of these for future shows, had a blast making this!
Again, thank you all and I cannot wait to write about StArt on the Street festival coming this fall September 18th! I hope to see many old and new faces there!
